Accepting Applications for Full-Time Police Officers

We are hiring! Act 120 certified starting base rate of $75,296 (or $84,708 with at least 2,080 hours of municipal police experience within the past 18 months). Base rate will increase to $86,580 after 1 year and to $98,280 after 2 years. The Master Police Officer (MPO) rate is $102,440. Mt. Oliver Borough offers both Highmark and UPMC PPO Plans with no deductibles. Earn up to 6 weeks of vacation, 5 personal days, 12 sick days, with sick day buy-back and vacation roll-over programs, as well as 9 paid holidays and uniform allowance. Mt. Oliver also offers a traditional Act 600 pension plan with a 3-Year DROP, as well as an optional 457(b) plan. There is no application or examination fee.

The Physical Agility Test will occur on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Allegheny County Police Academy. The Written Examination will occur the same day on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Oliver Borough Building, 150 Brownsville Road.

Applicants must have Act 120 Certification at time of hire. Other mandatory components of the test are an oral examination, a background check, a medical examination, and a psychological examination. A complete copy of the Borough’s hiring policy, as set forth in its Civil Service Rules, is available for inspection during regular business hours at the Borough Building.
