Position Summary

The Borough of Mt. Oliver is now accepting applications for Ordinance Officer. This is a full-time position, with an hourly wage range of $18.00 to $20.00, plus benefits package.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Enforce motor vehicle parking laws and regulations.
• Patrol streets on foot or in vehicle and identifies parking violations and property maintenance code violations and determines, writes, and/or issues citations or warnings in accordance with Borough ordinances.
• File citations with and attend hearings in District Court.
• Collect parking meter money.
• Performs minor on-site maintenance and repairs to parking meters and related equipment.
• Coordinate calibration of parking meters with Allegheny County, as required.
• Prepare reports as requested by the Chief of Police or the Borough Manager.
• Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Chief of Police or the Borough Manager.

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid PA Driver’s license at the time of employment.
• Knowledge of geography of the Borough of Mt. Oliver, including location and layout of streets.
• Knowledge of Borough parking codes, ordinances, and practices.
• Ability to interpret, apply, explain, and enforce laws, codes, and ordinances related to parking enforcement and property maintenance.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to organize and maintain records and files.
• Ability to plan and prioritize workload.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and general experience operating a desktop computer, email, and basic office equipment.
