Mt. Oliver Borough Receives Grant for New Salt Truck
A State Investment Ensures Safer Winter Roads
Mt. Oliver Borough is excited to announce the award of $119,124 from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Local Share Account (LSA) program. This generous grant will fund the purchase of a brand-new salt truck, replacing the current 2003 Ford F-550 that has served the community for over two decades and now faces costly maintenance and repair issues.
This vital state investment would not have been possible without the steadfast support and advocacy of Senator Jay Costa and Representative Jessica Benham. Their efforts have ensured the borough can continue to prioritize public safety, especially during the harsh winter months.
Representative Benham emphasized the importance of reliable equipment, saying, “After a major snowstorm like the one we just experienced, it’s clear how essential reliable snow-removal equipment is for public safety. I’m thrilled that this state investment will help Mt. Oliver Borough keep roads passable, residents connected, and first responders moving when winter weather hits.”
The new salt truck is scheduled to be procured in the spring of 2026 and will be ready to serve the community by the following winter. With this upgrade, Mt. Oliver Borough is better prepared to keep roads safe, ensuring that residents and first responders can navigate the borough efficiently no matter what the weather brings.
