Mt. Oliver is proud to share Learn. Earn. Grow. – a new career development path forward and GED access opportunities for our residents 16 years of age or older. We know part of strengthening our community starts with education and we’re excited to  give our residents access to the skills they need to Learn. Earn. Grow. Mt. Oliver has partnered with five organizations committed to our residents’ education and career goals. These groups believe in our residents, knowing their education and career growth matter to our community and its economic development. Whether it’s earning your GED and/or learning a new technical or trade skill, your income and potential will grow with this program and the resources it provides. 

Learn. Earn. Grow is presented by the borough of Mt. Oliver with the generous support of the Everett Program.

Career Training

The tech industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country with a wide range of opportunities. Whether you are new to the industry or already work in the IT field Per Scholas has a program that will help you level up your career. All Per Scholas courses are 100% free and most residents with a GED are eligible. Enrollment is competitive and handled on a first come first serve basis.   • For those new to the industry: Get your CompTIA A+ and Google Customer Support certifications at no cost in four months.
  • For those in the industry: Expand your career from the helpdesk into Cybersecurity or Programming and Web Development.
  • Median Tech Support Salary: $52,000
For over 50 years Bidwell Training Center has been providing Pittsburgh residents with free vocational training. Today Bidwell offers six programs all of which are 100% free of charge. Bidwell will provide you with the training and internship opportunities to start your career in a number of fields. Bidwell students pay nothing for their education. The Keystone Job Corps provides a unique opportunity for young Pennsylvania residents looking to develop life changing career opportunities. The Job Corps is a highly structured environment where participants will live for around 8-12 months. For more information on course offerings and how to apply click on the logo above. 

  • Open to PA residents between the ages of 16-24.
  • GED and High School courses available for those who haven’t graduated.
  • Career training in trade fields including: electrical, carpentry, bricklaying and many more.

Free GED Resources

Many educational and job training institutions require a GED. Earning your GED has lifelong benefits as people with GED’s earn on average $6,900 dollars more annually that those who do not have a high school diploma. A GED or High School Diploma Equivalent increases lifetime earnings by an average of $350,000. Mt. Oliver is committed to supporting its residents who are looking to earn their GED, check out the resources below, including obtaining your GED for no cost.
